Get a contract out in full contract language does take a lot of time. What seems odd to me however is that a summary has not been released. Normally within 24 hours of signing the union will put out a 2 or 3 page summary that hits the high points most pilots are interested in. Its strange that Spirits MEC has not done that.

FWIW, from what I've heard from reliable sources, because you guys had so many open sections when you were released to a cooling off, you now have A LOT of language to write after reaching the TA. It makes sense, but I know it's got to be extremely frustrating for you guys and gals.

The way I hear it, they were down to scheduling and comp. sure, two of the hardest sections, but its not like they are reinventing the wheel. I'm hearing there are some significant scheduling changes, but compensation should be a cut and paste of a new pay grid. Anyway, the self-induced information vacuum isn't helping ALPA's cause.
As for payrates being a really simple cut and paste, well I can tell you that no MEC in their right mind is going to put only the compensation section out first. Yeah, they could but you've got to realize that they want you to look at the new TA as a whole. Know what I'm sayin'?

I smell what your cooking, but...
I didn't mean they should put just the pay out, I ment that all but scheduling and pay were TA'd prior to the strike. Pay should be a simple cut and paste, leaving just scheduling to be written, and again, I don't think it was a total rewrite.

I completely understand your frustration and I'm not taking sides here. The NMB usually doesn't release the two sides with so many open items. Also, during the super-mediations of your cooling off period there seemingly wasn't much progress made toward closing these open issues. Therefore, it seems to me that most of the progress was made after you guys started walking. Five days to close on so many open issues is an extremely short period of time. The situation is probably such that it's going to take some significant time to write all this language.
