APA INFORMATION HOTLINE
This is APA Communications Deputy Chairman First Officer Scott Shankland with a special APA Information Hotline update for Saturday, June 12.
SPIRIT PILOTS ON STRIKE: As the expiration of the 30-day cooling off period for Spirit Airlines and its ALPA-represented pilots approached the midnight EDT deadline, negotiations were extended for two additional hours and then again for another three hours. The extensions came at the request of the National Mediation Board and were agreed to by both parties. The additional bargaining time failed to result in an agreement and at 5 a.m. EDT, the ALPA leadership of the Spirit pilots initiated a full strike against the airline. During the lead up to the strike deadline, a number of APA members participated in ALPA-Spirit's picketing at both the FLL and LGA airports.
Striking Spirit pilots may need our assistance during this job action and we encourage our members to accommodate them as much as possible. Spirit pilots are allowed to continue to utilize AA jumpseats. However, Spirit flight attendants do not have a reciprocal jumpseat agreement with AA. At APA’s request, AA management has committed to not flying struck work for Spirit Airlines.
We continue to encourage APA members in the LGA and FLL areas to show their support of Spirit pilots when picketing resumes later today. In FLL, picketing is being conducted at the southeast corner of Griffin Road and Federal Highway. In LGA, picketing is being conducted at central terminal B, in front of the Spirit Airlines upper level passenger drop-off zone.
APA is committed to supporting our ALPA brothers and sisters at Spirit. The APA leadership is in continual contact with ALPA. Any questions regarding our support of Spirit pilots may be directed to APA SPC volunteers at 817-302-2385.
APA will issue further hotline messages as changes in Spirit's ongoing negotiations warrant. Thanks for checking this message.

I hope the APA guys walk the picket line in shame with their head down, as an indicator to what they did to the TWA guys.
Spirit Guys...don't trust 'em...whatever their motives are...it all about them, they REALLY don't care about you!

Here we go again. Every thread with AA in the title degenerates into incessant whining over long ago wrongs (percieved or actual I don't really care anymore) by former TWAers. Give it a friggin rest, stay on topic, and move on with your life. Believe it or not the world does not revolve around you.

Whehter or not the TWA guys got the shaft or not is now moot. They'll never have another bite at that apple, so kicking the same garbage can will only result in a sore foot for them and really no one else.
They'll find more peace accepting the future reality, then angrily living in the past.
