Man I have no idea how I got hired! Only 2 out of 6 did that day (the only civilians) and both of us with conservative blue ties. On our second day we ran into the group ahead of us and they related the story that just before the sit down with the panel, the biggest guy and the smallest guy accidently switch suit coats and by the time they got them on they were being led into the interview room just a bit late to figure it out. They said that the panel knew what had happened and played it coy letting them squirm a bit with ill fitting suit coats. Eventually they asked one if he would like to remove his coat. He said " yes, but what do you think of these new short sleeve suits?"...

He said they were rolling and then they heard everyone in the next room start laughing shortly after...

Both guys got hired!

Default Delta Pilots

Can a Delta pilot confirm if your contract still prohibits furloughs and if the guys that were furloughed still receive longevity pay for the years that they were furloughed? Thanks.

If your avatar is any indication of how you walked into that interview than I'd hire you on the spot. Red tie, blue coat, cigar, I don't give a damn hair cut and I'm going to give cat ranchers hell... you're in.

The bigger question is do you take your coat off or not during the panel interview?

That was me. It was a great ice breaker to start the interview. But I wouldn't recommend doing it on purpose.

Yes on both counts.

Well - "prohibits" might be a strong word but there is furlough protection in the contract.
The protection is in two ways - first, is that the company can't furlough for two years after the companies were merged. That was in Nov. 2008, so that expired this Nov. Second, if a certain number of people are furloughed , the company has to remove six seats from some our 76 seat RJs.

The Contract does not prohibit furloughs, but requires some expensive changes in the event the company does furlough. Basically if they furlough anyone they have to convert a small number of 76-seat RJ's to 70-seat RJ's and if they furlough anyone senior to the most junior 2001 hire, they have to convert ALL 76-seat RJ's to 70-seat RJ's. That is probably a better no furlough clause than any I've ever seen, so I don't think you will see furloughs unless the consequences for the company change. Furloughed guys do accrue longevity for pay and vacation purposes, that has not changed.

I do not think there is a specific no furlough clause in the contract. Just items like a flow down that make it more expensive for the company should they decide to do so. Yes you get credit for years on furlough towards your pay for longevity.

I cannot seem to find this. Can you point me in the right direction. Why is the company congratulating themselves for not furloughing last year if the couldn't do it? Thanks,

Denny
