Thought Long Term went for just 10 years or 65, whichever came first.

Dont worry they are taking a "little-break" to catch up on the interviews and classes. They will continue after they catch their breath.

Continue to update and (I know it is hard) but try to relax.

We are busy, but we knew we were going to be a max'd out this summer. The operation runs most efficiently at 100%. But throw a thunderstorm over a hub into the mix and we are faced with a challenge to get caught back up.

The "little break" might not be desired. There remains confusion over how the flow through is administered. The asset sale (if it effects the flow) wasn't timed conveniently as it may have introduced another set of variables into a seniority number formula which needs to have a correct outcome.

Throw in another merger or two over a career and two pilots hired at the same time might end up several hundred numbers apart in seniority. Getting the initial number right is critical.

I think you've got 2 different points blended here.

Long term disability is technically a medical leave of absence. You retain your seniority number for 10 years on a leave (other than Mil Leave) after which you are removed from the list. You continue to get disability benefits as long as you are disabled until you reach the FAA mandatory retirement age.
