... and if anyone gets mad at the Delta "new hires" for dissin' the flow, you can be comforted by the fact 99.9999% of the returning furlough bypass guys are senior to the Delta bubbas that post here.
Isn't there a limit on returning from bypass? Aren't we right at that limit? These guys bypassed a bankrupt carrier that looked really bad. Things are different now and with the SLI many will go from DC9B to the 767.
240 doesn't make me as comfortable as the typical "hiring for the foreseeable future" statements that usually precede new hire classes.

First off the comment started off more as a generalization than a purely delta interview statement. At most airline interviews you will notice that most are wearing the red tie. Ever been to a job fair? It's a sea of red ties.
When you say that it hurts your chances do you know that for a fact. Not by rumors or that the non red tie guy didn't get the job but by fact. ie you have seen it in writing or know the interviewers personally and they told you. The reason that I ask that is because I've found it to be more urban legend than fact and most don't want to even take the risk so they wear the red tie.

I saw a guy interview in a green suit and get hired, then again I saw one in a sky blue suit that didn't last through the morning.
The hiring process is very simple: you do everything can NOT to stand out as a person that's not part of the group, and you save those glimpses into your superb personality for those rare moments in the interview where they can show through. It's not a fashion show. And it's not an opportunity to show why you're better than the rest. At least, not in an obvious way.
It's a defensive game, where you do all the tedious legwork that avoids giving them a reason not to hire you. There are few opportunities for offense, and each of those is a gamble.
In other words, before you can move to the stage where you show what an outstanding individual you are, you must first master the game of being one of the red-tied robots. So let your witty, wonderful personality simmer just below the surface, and let the surface be covered by a red tie.
It's not that complicated.

If you are seriously asking that question, then you know nothing about Delta and getting hired here. Here's some free advice. Go into Brooks Brothers and tell them you want to look like a (non-arraigned) republican banker. Blue suit.. white shirt, red tie, black wing tip shoes. Wear something else and ya takes your chances.... good luck

Good to hear some hiring. I just wanted to throw this out there that the Dc 9 is awesome, and I am ready to trade in my glass for a six pack. I understand there is a flow, but maybe some of us others will get lucky...

Apparently neither did Cycle Pilot but he/she still got the job. Is it in writing somewhere or told to the interviewers to deduct points for a non red tie. That's what I'm asking because I've heard that about many airlines and people still get hired without wearing it.

If that makes you sleep better go with that.

I added more to my post apparently while you were responding to it.. but I have no personal knowledge of the hiring process. If you want to press the issue... you very well might get hired, but.. make sure you have a backup plan.
