Someone brought this up on our board but how does the flow through work? Does that mean delta HAS to have that many flow up? Does Delta have to give that many jobs to mesaba and compass or is it just interviews? I guess my question is this. Say there are 30 compass guys trying to flow up and 30 from other airlines. The class they want to run will be 40. Does delta HAVE to take 20 of the compass pilots before they can move on and hire the 10 other applicants?

Good Question.

The classes will go in this order:
1) Furlough bypass recalls
2) Compass pilots - 20/month every month up to 25% of the total list in a rolling 1 year period - currently ~400 total CP pilots
3) Mesaba pilots - 9/month, no limit yearly
4) Off the street hires

That just seems weird for delta and the delta pilots. So they have pretty much given up all control of what type of pilot they want amongst their ranks. No matter the person or personality once their number is up at compass or mesaba they get to go with no say from the company or the union? (from what I read in another thread they dont have to interview or anything, they just go to new hire class.)

Not really, the compass max of 25% will be hit pretty quick Unser a typical hiring spurt. This small group of hires will limit the number of off street guys due to smaller number of needed pilots. When hiring happens on 2007-2008 levels the majority of those hired will be from off the street because compass will cap quickly.

None the less, cpz is about to see significant movement throughout their ranks.

Btw - about the interview- the compass pilots were interviewed via Nwa and future pilots for compass will be interviewed by delta going forward. So they have interviewed.

Ummm unless I missed something, Delta management hires pilots, not DALPA nor the Delta pilots... always been that way.

There are no line pilots doing part of the interview?

Well there might be, but I am guessing they are the scholarship kid at the frat party... input tolerated, but not necessarily one that sways the vote.

Airsupport, I was interviewed at Compass by a NWA 747 line check airman, a 330 captain, a delta manager, compass HR rep, and the system chief pilot of compass. That was in December, soon the psych eval will be included. Around 2000 TT, 1100 turbine for those interested.
