Like I mentioned earlier, It's the "GOOD OLD BOY NETWORK" . One does not deny the importance of a reccomendation, and one can reasonably argue that it makes the HR dept. job easier (not having to read so many resumes) I remain disgusted with it to say the least. But all who has gotten a leg up because they know someone best of luck...

For someone to expect their resume on paper in this competitive industry to land an interview is in denial.

Are we jumping the gun on the importance of this open house? Are they going to be doing on the spot interviews-OR-are they just getting a feel for who they'll call for an actual interview in the near future? Either way I am patiently waiting to get an invite! Hope to hear something soon!

Just got an email that said if you haven't gotten your invite yet, you aren't going to. Sorry folks. Maybe next time.

Same here internal rec. etc....received the same email. I wouldn't give up hope just yet. The email did say they were overwhelmed with applicants, and that the invite didn't necessarily mean you don't have a shot at an interview.
Maybe I have too much of a "glass half full" attitude! Oh well back to waiting for a recall......
