You know that joke email or forward you get from time to time about Ryanair charging for restroom use and the state of the industry? Well, if you think that Spirit charging for carry on is bad, get a load of this..

Ryanair going ahead with plans to charge passengers to use the restroom

/sigh

How fast do you think they'll reverse that when every seat on the aircraft becomes a public toilet?

"Ladys and Gentlemen that concludes our safety demonstration but we would also like to direct you to the pocket of the seat in front of you. In case any of you have the need or even strong desire to relieve yourself you may use the provided "Depends" diaper, or you may pay your flight attendant to use our much more private, aluminum plated restrooms...your choice! Also if the provided diaper is missing or already soiled, the seat pocket in front of you may also be used as a deposit point. And as always thank you for flying Soiled, I mean Ryanair!"

Anybody remember this Alaska Airlines commercial from 1987? I never knew the airlines would actually come to this point. Makes me sick...

I was born a generation or two too late. I'm so envious of the experiences of those of you who flew in the era of Pan Am and the Constellations and 707s. Shame on you Ryanair. How tawdry and sad. . .

If people buy into it, it will be a success, and that's that. In the States people complain about bag fees, but they still pay them. The complaining is just a lot of wasted hot air.

Everyone wants something for as cheap as possible, no matter that they are shooting everyone else, and at some point themselves, in the back for it.

Won't happen in the US...if there are not already regs about lavs and proper sanitation being available (I think there are based on seat count), there will be a federal law to that effect about a week after the first fee-to-pee flight lands in the US.

Not to mention numerous lawsuits against the airline as soon as said airline puts this into effect.
That's the "in" thing lately, filing lawsuits.

It's been the "in" thing for the past 40 years. In this case however I would be one of the first to jump on the lawsuit bandwagon and sue under CFR49 that it's illegal. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater!
