ALPA Spirit Pilots to Picket (Feb. 19 & 22)
Buddy of mine just called me on this...
If you live in the MIA/FLL area, please come show us your support!
Fellow Pilots:
As we approach the end of scheduled negotiations, it is now time to show our collective resolve for the new, fair, and equitable contract we deserve. We must demonstrate to management that their delay tactics must end—as they are unacceptable and contrary to common decency. A fair and equitable contract will benefit not only our pilot group, but also the airline, its employees, and the owners themselves. Poor managers suffer from shortsighted vision. Fortunately, for their sake, for everyone's sake, they have us.
Toward our collective goal, your Strategic Planning Committee has scheduled a series of events to demonstrate our resolve, and, hopefully, hammer the point home once and for all: we will not be sidelined any longer. We have been patient, we have been persistent—but our patience is wearing thin.
The scheduled events are as follows:
2/19 Informational Picketing 10:00 am–2:00pm
FLL Airport, Upper Level
Staging Area: Marriott Courtyard FLL Airport
400 Gulf Stream Way
Dania Beach, FL
(954) 342-8333
2/22 Informational Picketing 10:00 am–2:00pm
Corporate HQ, Miramar, FL
Staging Area: Courtyard Marriott Miramar, FL
(airport shuttle is available)
14500 Hotel Road
Miramar, FL
(954) 450 1801
Please keep in mind, that more events most likely will be added as conditions change at the negotiating table. You will be kept apprised via SPSC fast reads. See you there.
In Unity,
You Strategic Planning Committee

WE CAN USE YOUR HELP!!
Everyone out there availablie to show up, not matter what airline you represent, should. We are going to be the first carrier in quite some time to reach this point and many others may follow.
The result of this could affect quite a few of the next negotiations to reach this point. Support our brothers in all ways you can. Regional or Major, you guys should be there.

I would guess that everyone at Spirit walked the three week picket line at AJT down at MIA. Obviously they learned how NMB negotiations work. It should be no problem to call ABX, Atlas, AA, AJT, Capitol, Alaska, and the rank and file IBT members (loaders, sorters, truckers, etc.) who saw the Spirit presence during the worst rain and thunderstorm month of September. Three weeks of misery in a mud puddle solidified them, I would guess. For those that were not there, labor negotiations are difficult, to say the least, and labor actions are no joke. There is no middle ground, those that oppose the action will never be your friends again. It's ugly guys, start gearing yourselves towards these finalities. It is something I would rather not have to go through again.
There are so many guys that want to hijack the issue. Be men. Do the right thing.
