Is AirTran planning to add smaller aircraft?
Is is possible that AirTran is looking to acquire smaller aircraft to their fleet, which is why they are currently using SkyWest on some of the shorter flights out of MKE? Is this arrangement kind of like what they did when they used Ryan to begin innaugural service to the West coast a few years ago? That was before they had 737's on property. If AirTran is looking to add smaller airframes, would this be a change of scope, and would those aircraft be flown at payrates comparable to what AT has in place now, or would they be typical regional pay rates?
I don't have any reason to believe this is what is happening. I don't work at Citrus, nor have I heard anything in the rumor mill. I'm just wondering.

SkyWest was a result of our deferred delivery schedule due to the run-up of oil prices last year.
Most folks think it's temporary. AirTran has done it before to provide temporary lift while awaiting new A/C. Last time, it was AWAC.
The Bombardier comment was made in public to put pressure on Boeing. No way they opt for a 2 type fleet again. Dropping the 71 and going all 73 is another way to keep the CASM low.
I have no idea when the 71 leases being to expire.

Hi!
The -717s are 100 seats in 2 classes. The "C" is, I believe, 110 and 130 seats in 2 classes, and they may be looking at a bigger "C" that is about 150 seats in 2 classes.
Bigger than the -717.

Hi!
Thanx 4 that correction....did not realize they were that big. I commuted a lot on TWA's, and they were all 100 seats in 2 classes...thought they were the size of a DC-9-3x, but obviously they are bigger!!! You can only fit about 105 seats, all coach, into a -9-3x, unless you take out the galley/bathroom(s), etc.
