Hi!
My point was that there should have been no grievance. If you have a contract, which comes from a union, the company should follow it, and if they don't, they should IMMEDIATELY be punished/sanctioned.
Our union/contract/grievance system is broken. The mgmt has WAY to much power. In many airlines, like mine, the company just does whatever it wants, and then year(s) later end up paying a penalty that costs pennies on the dollar for how much money they save.
I think for an intentional violation of the contract like they did the mgmt should be immediately fired and/or go to prison.

Back to the thread.
My father in law lives in Bellingham, about 3 miles from the airport in fact. He said the hot rumor in BLI is that the 757 will go to Hawaii from BLI. What say you guys based out of there?

I was hoping the same thing for my hometown of Oakland, and I think that since the 757 is going to be primarily (maybe exclusively) serving the Hawaii market, it'll probably be based there. And from Hawaii, it'll probably go to a lot of the cities they currently serve (such as BLI and OAK). Interestingly, Alaska recently started doing OAK nonstops to HNL, OGG, and one other HI island (can't remember). I guess there's some $ in that market. Allegiant might do better though with their hotel-rental car-travel agency setup, and (for the Negative-Nancy's on this thread) lower pilot pay.

FWIW
Management stated the 757 would not be entering any markets with competition from Hawaii..
That said OAK is very unlikely.
I think BLI is almost certain, LGB a good possibility, SCK probably, maybe MFR or EUG..
The birds will probably be based in Hawaii (HNL) and operate redeye "turns".

16 new hires May / 10 upgrades. More hiring to follow for additional 80's / 757's. To get a call for an interview one needs to create a "job agent" and that will get you / your resume into the system. When a job opening is available (pilot position) your info. will get reviewed and you'll be notified of the open position. That is, if a pilot position is not showing on the available positions you can still fill out an application via the "job agent". Hope that helps and good luck - Yes Allegiant will hire a pilot on furlough and no resignation letter is required. ProUnion - keep it to yourself for the interview.
Best of luck!

Funny thing, none of us were hired.
Sometimes its a blessing in disguise..

Good to hear that April hiring talk! And, Raul Duke, it sounds like you know way more about it than me. I'm just wishing, I guess. Is there any plan to expand Oakland (perhaps a pilot domicile one day) - even if just a rumor?
Also if you've got the spare time, can anyone rank the bases by seniority (just a general idea)?

There's rumor of OAK becoming a base perhaps in 2011 sometime.
Approximate order of base seniority Junior to Senior: (right now subj to change)
FO: GRR, SFB/MCO, PIE, LAS, LAX, IFP, FLL, IWA, BLI
CA: GRR, SFB/MCO, PIE, LAS, FLL, IWA, IFP, LAX, BLI
