So, that's your guess. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Thanks to guys/gals like Chperplt we have something for the pilot group to vote on. I look up to those pilots on both sides of the ALPA divide - the creators vs. the moochers and looters.

You have something to vote on because of your organizing committee members and the Air Line Pilots Association. Maury wouldn't have given you jack if it weren't for the ALPA drive. Now you just need to be able to enforce it. Vote for the pay raise, and then vote for ALPA.

Don't kid yourself. Maury is more afraid of TWU, IAM, AFA, and IBT than he is of a weak association like ALPA. He knows that if the pilots unionize that the other work groups will follow. That is the only leverage that ALPA has at the company.

I suppose it's not the absolute lowest because there are a couple companies like AirTran with no 401k match, but it's definitely one of the lowest. And until the new TA, the company wouldn't even research new 401k policies, so employees who made over $106K/year couldn't contribute the legal maximum each year. Realistically though, AirTran and those other companies have retirement funds with much higher contribution than our 401k.
And yes, our medical does kinda suck. It's not horrible because there's only a $500 deductible, but it's not good. I had to pay over $400 out of pocket for simple tests that are covered by most other insurance companies.
Also, our vision sucks. It didn't even cover my first prescription for glasses. It basically gives you a $40 discount off of all vision services and that's about it.
Dental also sucks. It'll cover the basic check up and cleaning but not much more.
It sickens me when the uneducated, unskilled service industry employees (bartenders, servers, cooks) in Las Vegas who are members of a strong union have zero contribution medical/vision/dental which covers EVERYTHING for no out of pocket at all. And we're highly skilled airline pilots working for a company that requires us to pay $100/month for mediocre benefits. The worst part is that a lot of our pilots are okay with this and prefer to take their chances and risk our careers with no legal help at all.

Sorry to change the subject, but anyone heard anything about an Oakland base? I just heard whispers . . . anything solid there?

Indeed! ALPA scares everybody! They know that negotiating with ALPA means that at the last minute, ALPA will tell the pilots to take the deal, regardless of the concessions. And for that, ALPA gets 1.96% of your paycheck for dues that go to them to pay their bills that they can't pay, and you get back some of your money.

IBT only asks for 1.56% of which only 22% of that goes to Washington; the rest stays with you.

So...for every $100.00 you make, do you want to send $1.96 to ALPA in DC and get a few pennies back or send only .34 cents to the IBT and keep the rest for yourself?

Don't buy into the rhetoric and promises. Ask serious questions, demand answers and make sure you are getting the truth, not smoke and mirrors. After all...it's YOUR money.

Oh you mean THIS IBT?

from Teamsters Local Union No. 747 Home

As we have continued this evolution, one thing has become crystal clear. The financial policies put in place by the former President and approved by his Board have put an impossible financial strain on Local 747. Membership dues which should have been used to provide services were diverted to the President, with his Board’s approval. These additional and unwarranted fees and consulting agreements drained the finances of the Local to the point that it has become necessary in the recent weeks to look at how best to continue to provide you with improved services.

Raul, do justice to your avatar. Post the rest. They cleaned house and threw out the corrupt leadership. They're economizing while retaining services and membership representation.

I'll stick by what I said. Ask questions. Get honest answers and make informed decisions.

Thumbs up

Looks like APC can update the pay scale for Allegiant. Pilots voted in a new agreement effective May 2010. Some good news during this economic downturn:
