Sad, sad. Allegiant pilots, looking back at my 20yrs. in the business, I can't believe you guys don't want representation. The legal representation alone is worth the union dues. Please don't worry about how the company makes money, just fight for what you believe your skills are worth. BTW, running old equipment when the price of fuel goes nowhere but up will constantly make you sucks for accepting lower and lower wages. You boys are professionals, act like it.

I think this is funny because we have "all knowing" people here at Allegiant that have been in the industry longer than this poster that will say the exact opposite. We also have some that are in total agreement with this poster. Many from TWA that appear to be on either side. It's funny how this post attempts to learn us on things no pilot here could possibly understand, because since we are a young airline every pilot must be under 35 years of age of course. Are these former TWA pilots not professionals? You know the truth on both sides of this argument must be somewhere in the middle.

I was there. Along with about 11 other of my pilot colleagues here in PIE. That was one session. I don't know how many attended the other. Say only 3 attended the other session. Then that's 14 pilots out of about 30. Not bad, considering a number don't live in base and did not spend their day off to go to said road show.

Where are people pulling this "3 people in PIE showed up" garbage?

Glad ALPA is / was an option but not required at Allegiant. IMHO.

3...11...14...What is the point? I went to the ALPA roadshow and I'll be voting NO. They are a business and would like my $, I get it. In my opinion they had crap to offer when it comes to scope & merger protection. They just referred to their 'War Chest' at every turn. When have they used any of those funds to help pilots? I'll stick with the open door policy at Allegiant and welcome the industry standard pay package.

It came from 3 different OC members and one secretary...and it was stated for the 1st PIE road show.
If not true, then it's not true. Not sure why OC members would lie... then again, some are saying that ALPA was / is going to sue AAPAG and the company for unfair labor practices since they came to an agreement during the road shows. Maybe some of our OC guys are full of crap and not looking out for our best interests after all. Hmmmm

gosh how are we gonna live without a catered event. Seriously, if your worried about the food the airline provides at events then you are gonna be disappointed no matter what happens.

That being said, make sure you really press whatever Union you’re looking at for the facts. ALPA refers to a “War Chest”. Ask them why ALPA pilots (like myself) are receiving mandatory notices because the Major Contingency Fund (MCF or "War Chest") is below the funding level required.(I think it's 69 million. I am away from home so these numbers will be approximates). If my memory serves me, In years past the MCF was funded closer to $100 million, and required notices went out to membership anytime the fund fell to below $69 million. Although I have not seen the numbers, I am hearing that after the money pledged out, there is only about $14 million in unpledged assets.
I believe you should be represented. Press for the facts from any union and then make a decision. Don’t take ALPA’s statements as the truth. Don’t take my statements as the truth. Press for the facts, and ask a lot of ALPA pilots if what the organizers are saying is really true.

The new pay scales at Allegiant are nothing but false hope for the pilots. They are based on an operating margin that WILL decline next year. The 20% operating margin this year is artificially high due to the extremely low cost of oil during the first quarter of the year. Every quarter next year we will see lower operating margins due to higher costs of oil than last year.
We will see Band 1 or 2 pay next year. That means we will soon be flying 200+ seat B757's for 100-seat B717 rates. Marvelous!
I was finally proud stepping into the jumpseat of another carrier when I could tell them we had a union drive. If the drive fails due to such basic union busting tactics and the greed of short-sighted pilots, we should all hang our heads in shame. Even if it fails the first time, we all know it will succeed the second time when management gets up to their same old tactics and ticks everybody off again.
