I was told by CPs there that the increased flying in LGA will be 30% mainline 70% regional.

Everyone is assuming that Delta is going to fly the exact same routes out of LGA that USair. That is not the case. While we will see some of the same markets served, some will be dropped and new ones opened.

That's accurate.

It will not be 50 seaters, it will be the largest mainline replacement (service transparent) RJ's that they are allowed to operate, the E175's & CRJ900's. 76 seats with a gap to 142 seats. That can hardly be optimal. Maybe they are going to bring in some A319 / DC9's to help fill the gap.

I think the reason people are assuming we're flying the same routes, is that Delta said that they would. Also, there is a natural market already. If we don't serve ALB, BTV, SYR, ROC and BUF out of LGA, where in upstate NY are we going to go?

The reason USAir served those markets was because, well, that's where the passengers were.

This hub is to compete with JetBlue - I know our RJs are OK, but we cannot compete with JetBlue with RJs. JetBlue's TVs, service and ontime performance blows our RJs out of the water.

who says we're only doing the exact routes that was done by usair?

sure some of them will be flown but nothing says we wont add new routes either.

There are to many very small markets that have to be served.
If DL is seriously going to connect passengers from LGA to JFK via a ground shuttle, they might as well put up a link on delta.com straight to continental.com. Connecting at JFK is already a cluster****! Trying to get from LGA to JFK on the Van Wyck Expwy during rush hour on a bus is not going to go over very well.

What doesn't blow our RJs out of the water? A Sopwith Camel perhaps? Nah - I would rather fly the Camel.

Please explain to me how in the world you make money flying an rj between lga and Ith/mht/pvd. I have been on those runs with us air picking up planes and never been on a full flight even with turbo props.

Maybe DAL has more feed? (Just a guess) All I know is that as time goes on, more and more of my flights are completely full. I think they like this right-sizing concept, because they are good at it.
