Hopefully, you'll enjoy a violation free career too. Good luck to you Johnso29.
nobody is perfect, nobody. Everyone makes mistakes and until the report comes out they are innocent, the crew deserves at least some impartiality from us. Imagine if you were in their shoes?

IMSAFE..... you have put your passengers in danger by not feeling the greatest. You may not think you did, but the facts speak for themselves. How is that for armchair quarterbacking? I'm not the one who admitted to "flying while not feeling great".

I wish ill will on no one, but I'm tired of all the armchair QBing that goes on. I hope everyones career ends clean. Heck my stomach sinks when I hear a completely different crew get the 'I've got a phone # you need to copy' speech.

Good Luck to us all. Cheers

Stop armchair quarter backing because anybody who WAS NOT in that flightdeck has ZERO right to cast judgement. Some professional.
Well said.

Mod note:

Ok, the thread starter only wanted to know if the ILS was working on 27R, not another rehash of the same old beat-to-death issues that rile up so many of you.

So, was the ILS working or not?

And for the rest of you, re-read the Terms of Service again, particularly about flamebait, name calling, thread drift and other beloved topics. If you feel that you must post in a manner contrary to the simple rules on APC, then I feel that I must delete those posts and give you an infraction. And if you have a history of infractions, you might well find yourself sidelined, either for a while or forever. A better plan is to post intelligently. It's not difficult to do. Trust me.

Don't say I didn't remind one and all about the Terms of Service. And remember that you guys are supposed to be professionals, not juvenile delinquents.

They had one pilot down with a medical emergency.
The minimum crew for a 767 is two pilots. If these guys can't handle the airplane with the basic crew maybe.......

They were making a high speed approach.
Back to the argument that they were willing to jeopardize the lives of the 180+ pax for ONE sick person on board. Not making a stable approach for the sake of a sick pax is not a very good excuse. You have fire on the airplane then do what ever you have to do. But again you are not seeing the big safety picture when you throw away SOP when the situation doesn't warrant such.

They were given 3 runway changes in close.
I am going to guess at no point did the tower clear them to land on a taxiway? Runway changes happen ALL the time. They light them white lights and put TDZ and centerline lights on them to make them stand out and they also, for assistance make the taxiway lights BLUE.

It was still dark at the arrival time and they had been up all night.
If they continued the flight beyond their capabilities then they should have to account for that poor judgment. I haven't seen the route of flight but from has been posted they flew for a long period of time knowing the checkairman was ill. What about all those airports they passed?

The excuses I have seen are not very convincing. Many here want to portray this as being inevitable. Once the Check Airman burped they were going to land on a taxiway and narrowly escape death and injury to those paying folks in the back because there were not three pilots in the cockpit.

Default Wind check please......

How can this be I thought delta pilots were the best in the world?

In all seriousness though I find it interesting how defensive everyone is over all this. I wonder what the reactions would have been had it been an RJ crew and not the infallible mainline pilots.

99% of the posts are not looking for excuses, but looking for why. It was a bad screw up... mature pilots (and companies) look for why it happened so they can protect themselves from similar errors in the future.

Well said. It's bad enough that the media loves to crucify us when we make a mistake.
