Glad to see this whole SWA in Int'l operations was a giant HO-AXE. You guys with your iffy maintenance may want to stay over dry land till you get all that stuff sorted out.....if ever.

Wow, a pretty unnessasary comment in my view...
Not a swa pilot but I think all airlines have been guilty of screwing up some mx procedures every now and then...

To get back to the topic... I think that just as the major airlines have created worldwide aliances (Star, Sky Team, etc), LC carriers will probably do the same... You'll see SWA, Ryanair, AirAsia, Tiger Airways, etc., etc. form their own aliances... They'll attempt to "share" flight between each others' markets.

Just my inflation penny on the subject..,

Has anyone considered the replacement for the current 737? It would be more efficient, probably a little wider, I'm sure SWA will have a lot of input about the AC design. I'm sure the new "737" will make it to Europe from the East Coast just fine! I hope it happens, always treated well by SWA!

First of all LB, in my opinion we have the best and hardest working mechanics in the industry! After a brief stint at a former legacy carrier I was surprised to very rarely see an MEL after routinely carrying 4-7 MEL 's until the regs said you had to clear them or the plane doesn't fly. Then to see mechanics meet the plane to try and resolve the one MEL you did have rather than wait half a day to do it on a terminating aircraft in a MX base. You should watch our mechanics meet the aircraft and change two nose wheel tires in five minutes. Willing, able, and there to meet the aircraft when you call them means I will stack our mechanics up against anyone's, period!

Frankly I don't care if we ever do international ops but continually calling our MX iffy and saying that we are too kozy with the FAA is just another way to defer the subject away from your unhappiness. Also you seem to be implying that SWA is the only airline to ever have some difficulties with bookkeeping errors or chosen a contractor that maybe we should not have. I am sure your airline's history is spotless in these areas as well.

Have a nice day!

The Oscar

Hey Lamborn - who do you work for again?

Looks like United to me...I don't know why you didn't just come out and say it.

Good news is that if you have some time, you may have enough career left to work at SWA. At SWA, you'll make 20% more as a 737 captain than you do now as a 767 captain. More importantly, if you have enough career left, you'll have the opportunity to make up for the millions from a lost pension fund (if you happen to have that problem.) Just being friendly and professional.

Funny, anyone can say they're anything on this board - I'm changing my title to 747 captain.
