A friend of mine, yea I have 3 total, is on the PD interview team. She has told me a couple of times that it is her job to read ALL the blogs. If your name pops up, well we are all pilots, were bound to screw up. I have 2 1/2 weeks of probabtion left, and I can guarantee you don't want to be known. In fact, right now on PPRUNE they are talking about the guy who got fired last year while in indoc. Be patient and keep your head low. The first indication you will have that you are about to be in class, is a call to take a urinalysis. They will also redue the background checks, not the references, but the driving record/arrest record type checks. Keep the faith, its a great place to work.

Facebook is simple. Don't become a 'fan' of anything (never understood that nonsense) no pic of you in uniform, no pics of company Aircraft/logos, and don't even put where you work under 'info'.

Fellas, Fellas...take the tin foil off your heads and out of your windows. The problem with people getting busted for blogs, facebook, etc is because they are acting ridiculous and saying ridiculous things. I chose SWA because I really like the company and I believe I am in the pool because I showed SWA who I was, who I really was, and they thought I was a good fit. I don't say anything online that I wouldn't say to people's face or in an interview. I have a job until SWA calls and I'm loving life - nothing to be scared of.

Most people I've heard of being fired were for pictures etc. they make public.

You can also keep the security level so only people you allow can see your profile. You can take it another level and make it so that your profile isn't even able to be searched for.

I like facebook it's really helped me stay connected with friends all over the world. There's also a few nifty apps for it. One lets you import your airline schedule and compares it to others that are friends of yours. Lets you know when you'll be overnighting in the same city. Great app.

There are some seriously paranoid people here. If your acting stupid and make yourself or company look bad then yeah be scared, but for god's sake if a company fires you for being on facebook then maybe its not a place I would want to work. Its a free country, so relax.

I agree with the previous couple of posters. I think these guys just want to link up so they share info about upcoming classes. Why do people on here think that's a bad idea?

Who was the American Eagle guy with the blog bashing other pilots, posting flight aware links, and talking about A/C routing and load factors? All with his name plastered all over it...

Like a year ago my nephew (who is interested in flying as a career) sent me a link to this guys blog. I couldn't believe what I was reading, he was laying it all out there, I'm pretty sure he had UNDER a year on the job and was an ATP wonder. I'm amazed the union or company didn't shut him down.

So you mean a site like our "friend's" here (Matt Culpepper of California \ Nevada Web Site) would be a bad idea?

So the guy is proud of his flying career, good for him. I think serving his country he has earned the right to his free speech and posting on his own website.

How about this for free speech. That glamour shot should be titled, "I can't get laid in a *****house with a bag full of money"

What a tool!
