Default Alaska picks up abandoned routes

Alaska Airlines picks up routes abandoned by other carriers - Puget Sound Business Journal (Seattle):

This is the kind of progress I like to see, maybe it will even stir the pot a little bit? A sign of positive things to come at alaska?

What kind of reserves do you land with when you fly the 73-8 from seattle to hawaii?

Read the article and it says they are picking up new routes so they don't have to park airplanes..... So why are they parking pilots?

Question: How is Alaska going to get an ATL Slot when SWA can't even get one? Maybe it will be through DAL and their codeshare agreement.

Despite filling some holes, there are still a couple planes that will be sitting on the ground more than usual come fall. If it wasn't for opening up new routes, it would have been more.

DL is dropping one of its SEA-ATL flights this fall and AS is filling that slot.

Traditionally at Delta the upholstery shop decides which city pairs to cancel. SEA-ATL has long been known to wear out seat covers throughout the cabin, as there are never any empty seats.

ATL is not a slot controlled airport. All that matters is whether or not you want to jump in and also find a gate to use. SW can come on in anytime but they have so far declined. Stranger things have happened in aviation though.

It's been a while sine I've flown to the islands, but I think we land with 90-120 minutes of fuel on board.
