Air Canada jumpseat
I am posting here just in case some of you may know the procedures on jumpseating with Air Canada within Canada. I've also posted this under the "Foreign" heading. Pls. pardon me if this info is redundant.
I am a pilot with United and would like to jumpseat on Air Canada between Toronto - Montreal - Toronto later this month. Since AC and UA have reciprocal jumpseat agreement (but not CASS), along with the captain's OK, I would also need a cabin seat.
Can anyone pls. tell me whether the flights between these two cities usually run very full in the summer (late July)? If so, I may just rent a car or purchase a full fare ticket instead.
Also, with a US air carrier ID, will I be able to go past a Canadian security check point without a boarding pass or do I need to get some kind of departure management card from the Air Canada front counter in order to go beyond security and proceed to the gate?
Any info will be appreciated. Thanks very much in advance.

I've gotten through security with just my badge at these airports. However, I have had my boarding pass/priority verification just in case.
Just remember to call and list (keep your record locator or know that the reservation will be under FDyourlastname)

Doesn't 1.95% of your pay go towards union dues????
Why not put that money to use and call your jumpseat coordinator

Actually CASS - and the requirement for it - is a US thing. Flight deck jumpseat is an option for flights within Canada (but not from Canada to the US, or vice versa).
But like the other guy said, give your JSC a call. They should have the deets.

I went out of YYZ before, but security is different from the US-Departure side and the AC terminal. Once you're listed on the phone, you have to go to the staff travel/ticket counter to get your boarding pass. They'll ask for your passport. They may even ask for your CP's office number for verification. For them, JS is a much more lengthy process than us walking up to the gate in the US. Then once you pass through security, i was escorted by some sort of supervisor, and she checked my ID one more time before i was escorted to talk to the flight crew.
I have a AC non-rev number if you'd like, i'll pm it to you. Hope it helped.

Thanks for all the info. Yes, I've planned to talk to the JS coordinator as well as posting the question here. Aside from the JS issue, I was trying to get a feel for loads from YYZ to YUL. The last time I rode JS in Canada was almost 20 years ago and it was quite a bit more complicated than here in the US.
Thanks again to everybody for the helpful info. Much appreciated.
