Default NWA/DAL Travel policy after sick

As a FNWA guy we had the policy that if you called in sick you couldn't non-rev again until you went back to work. Has this changed with the new policy and if so where can I find it in writing?

Thanks in advance.

That is/was the policy at D-S too. I don't think it's changed at all.

if it helps at all, you should be able to jumpseat.

You can call the CP's office and get permission to non rev while out sick. If you have a broken wrist for instance they are not going to stop you from seeing your mom. If you have the flu however they will say no.

Actually you are able to non-rev after being sick you just can't do it on the actual days you called in for......

Where I work if you jumpseat you must meet all the physical standards to ride in the cockpit. If you're sick for flying, you're sick for the jumpseat. If you intend to "flowback", there is a non-rev listing created to issue you a boarding pass, plus the CASS system is checked for offline pilots. That's quite a paper trail should your company wish to pursue why you were jumpseating/non-reving while sick.

Other companies may be diffferent, but it seems not quite worth it when a simple call asking permission from your chief pilot would eliminate the potential discipline aspects of your personal travel.

Interesting, I got a dog bite on my hand and thus can't fly. I had a trip sched to start today and end Wednesday. We were planning on flying down to a wedding on Thursday but I figured that was out now that I had to call off to get my hand taken care of. Any idea where this specific part of the policy is written? I'll call the CP office for clarification but just wanted to get the facts straight first. Thanks.

If you call in well and still are on off days you can non-rev. Something like what you have, I am sure they would approve you to fly, if you are out for a few weeks. Just be honest and tell them what is going on. You can also call the CPSC. They are great and can do most of the work for ya.
