Cap And Trade..shut Down!!!
Don't know what you alll think, but this is a serious problem for this industry!
This bogus bill needs to be adressed. This is not politics, this is economic!
And if economics leads to politics, so be it!
Global Warming, my butt!

The moderators shut down the other thread because it turned into a political hate thread instead of a thread rationally and intelligently debating the issue at hand.
It is possible to discuss this issue without dragging politics into it. However I suspect that what is possible and what will happen are two very different things.
Good luck with this attempt.

burning fossil fuel bad
you can still do it, but you will pay the govt. to do it
the price of everything goes up
value of dollar goes down
oil goes back through the roof
airlines slowly die off one by one until there is only small handfull left then we get re-regulated as govt. subsidized employees.
once every one is on welfare there will be no reason to pay pilots a high wage and you will be forced to come to work because you will not be allowed to strike just like the ATC.
this is awsome. can't wait to see the outcome.
no political hate here just stating my opinion of the future.

Jd,
Read the thread. No hate but just stating the obvious. To complain without action is, well, just complaining. This will affect us and we should voice our feelings. Same thing that we have been doing since 1775.

What really makes me angry is the fact that the earth has been cooling for the last 11 years (1998)!
If we have Global Warming, why can't I sail a wooden boat around Greenland like the Vikings did in the 14th century, ice free?
Why can't I grow wheat in Greenland like the Vikings did in the 14th century?
Tell you what, when wheat can be grown again in Greenland and we can sail around Greenland in a normal boat (Not an Icebreaker), I will believe everything is back to normal.
Meanwhile, hunker down boys for another hammering of our fossil fuel industry.
Who suggested "Solar Powered" jet aircraft? Yea, that's the ticket!

Over the course of the past several million years the earth has alternated between ice and swamp. Climate change is normal, not something to run around in circles about and it's been happening all that time without our help.
We can only hope the Senate shows more integrity than the House did and sinks this red herring.

Carbon emissions regulation, in some form or another is coming. Period. The question is how are we as an industry going to deal with it? Not only on a national level, but an international level. Either we let it roll over us like a steam roller or we act in a proactive way, helping to shape the change and the policy that is about to act upon us. I suggest the latter as I am sure you would agree.
As a military person yourself, I leave you with the following quotation:
"If you don't like change, you're going to like irrelevance even less." - General Eric Shinseki, Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army
