So was Hitler and Idi Amin. Should we shed a tear for them also?

This is the most repugnant and despicable comment I have ever read on APC. You, sir, are a complete idiot.

I do not visit this website much anymore, but I decided to log on to see what you all would have to say about his death. That was a grave mistake.

After reading the posts on here regarding the in-flight death of the Continental pilot, I EXTREMELY happy that I did not choose to go down the airline road. I could not have tolerated working with people that are as cold-hearted and disgusting as those who are making these outrageous statements regarding his death. It is truly gut-wrenching reading some of the posts. From reading the posts, it appears as if the scum that are making these comments are present more often than not in the airline industry. That's sad. I have lost a lot of respect for the pilot profession, airline pilots specifically, after reading these disgusting posts. I always held airline pilots in high esteem because of the responsibility that you guys take on every single day. Not anymore. The comments about and the overall attitude towards this pilot's death is extremely offensive and have changed my view of the profession completely.

I, for one, hopes the media does come to this website and report on some of the things that have been said here. I think the general public needs to know about this side of the airline industry that is little known. I hope that the characters that are making these crude comments are not representative of airline pilots as a whole. We have reached a new low if that is the case.

My prayers and condolences to the family of the deceased Continental captain.

APC moderators: If you have any decency, you will more closely moderate the comments that are made on this site. I would not want my company to advertise on a site where this kind of disgusting banter is going on.
Thank you wannabe..whateveritisnow. Thank you also for your complete slam on anyone who is doing the job that you decided not to do.
I am a decent man. I have no sympathy for this man but his family are in my thoughts and prayers. What do you sell? I'm sure that your company has competators.
Sincerely,
fbh

I came on this site, which I often visit to see into my family member's job, and I was hoping to read kindness from the brothers and sisters that flew with Craig. What I found makes me physically ill. The only thing that makes me feel better is knowing that those of you spewing such hatred are rotting your own lives with your views. I will forgive what I have read today because I know that holding on to negativity can ruin one's life. As much as I wish at this moment that you would all rot, I pray that you can find forgiveness for others before the day of your reckoning. I know that Craig did and he will rest in peace.

Two people trying to kill one another can have more respect for one another than some of those in the industry today.
It is sad. having lost a mother in the last few weeks; I mourn for his family and friends.

Good post.

I don't know who this person was.

If he was a SCAB, he would not be my friend norsomeone I would solcialize with on a layover.

Having said that, if I was his FO, I would have been the same PROFESSIONAL I always was while on duty. No difference than the SCABS I flew with during 12 years at UAL.

To not have empathy and sympathy for his family is not even human.

What I think about this individual has nothing to do with common respect for those affected. Additionally his actions will now be judged by a power higher than me.

Frats,
Lee

Really Fishfreighter? How much combat time you got skippy? I'll bet my 500+ combat flying hours fighting the war on terror that you have no idea what actual warfare is about. Comparing "Union Warfare" to the actual "I could be shot, killed, tortured, and held prisoner of war" kind of warfare is worse than retarded. It's an insult to the men and women who have actually done it, and are doing it right now so you can run your mouth freely and recklessly on a public forum like this. The fact that you consider your JOB to be worthy of something to sacrifice a human life for, to dispense with human decency, and to disregard the value of a human life - is exactly why this industry is the way it is. It's because people like you are usually in management - not in the cockpit.

.................And, whatever happened to the poster (I guess edited for cowardice), that said military guys don't get it when it comes to unions. PM me so we can get together and "talk." I don't know a single military guy who would cross a picket line. Has it ever happened? - I don't care. To say that military guys, in general, are scabs waiting to happen is not going to float here. You think after putting my a** on the line for the American way of life that I'm gonna throw away my honor for a paycheck?

This thread is the biggest disappointment I've had in aviation since I aspired to wear a pair of wings

Mod note:

Continental pilot who died on Newark-bound flight identified as Craig Lenell - NJ.com

His name is on the scab list. He served his country in the Air Force in Vietnam. He was over 60. And he died today.

Futher flamebait remarks directed towards Craig Lenell will be removed and infractions given. Feel free to make a respectable post on why one might not mourn a scab. Feel free to give condolences to his family. Feel free to yell at each other as usual. Whatever. But futher personal attacks towards this man will not be tolerated by this moderator.

I apologize for some of the things you've had to read on this site. As a fellow pilot, I'm embarassed by what some of my colleagues have written. Regardless of how they feel about Craig, at the very least they could show empathy for the pain that Craig's friends and family must be experiencing.

I can only imagine the excrutiating pain that you must be feeling now. I pray that all of Craig's friends & family may find peace in their time of mourning. I also know that if Craig was the person you say he was, then he has moved on to a better place. Please accept my apology, & I hope you find kinder words from here on out.

I apologize for being gone from the forums this afternoon, but I actually thought closing that other thread and banning one particularly egregious user would be enough to let folks know that this kind of offensive and disrespectful comments will not be tolerated.

This thread is closed. Any other thread started of the same nature will be closed. The thread starter will be banned.
