I hope it goes up, because I want to keep flying as long as I am physically capable and safe, and as of right now, I only have 23 years left.

The Retired US Air guy said it best, "the experience is there at 60, but the hand-eye coordination is not nearly as sharp as it was when they were younger"

I think the real reason why nobody "dies" on airplane is that to "die" you need a doctor to pronounce them, and give a time of death.

My thoughts go out to the family and crew.

Based on the prior 'AGE 60 Rule', this Pilot would have been retired and may have enjoyed his remaining days with friends and family.

Agreed 100%

Or the staffing number and employee number I saw was wrong - but I doubt it. Either way, it's sad when anyone dies while doing their job, and I hope his family didn't find out through our horrible media.

I only made the comment I did to point out to some of my peers that decisions you make in life may haunt you forever. Choose carefully as to how you want to be remembered.

I've never kept it to myself how I've felt about the scabs and age 60+ pilots at CAL that have created the working conditions that exist. However the attrition occurs, I look at it as one step closer to working under a respectable contract instead of surrounded by people who would stab me in the back if given the opportunity.
Scab and then to Top that off flying past 60 while pilots are furloughed

That was me.

The level stupidity of the media astounds me hourly.

Best wishes to the family, and the thought that he died doing what I'm sure he loved.

Pilots have died in the cockpit before Age 60, it's just a number. Braniff had a Captain die HNL-DFW. The lead was his wife. They keep flying since the FO and FE didn't want to leave her with the body away from home.

Scary, isn't it? It makes you wonder about how accurate their "reporting" is about every other subject. At least with airline stories you can smell the BS a mile away. Every other story where you're not an expert they can sound quite reasonable and knowledgeable.

Reality is, they probably know less than you, or at least what you could learn after 15 minutes of reading. "Reporters" (of all stripes and all networks) are chosen primarily for their camera appeal and ability to smoothly read a teleprompter.

very good point, they are probably as accurate on every other subject, as they are on airlines, very scary.

I thought it was funny, CNN went right to TWITTER, I mean is this seriously where they get their information?

From some of the news reports it sounds like there were some doctors on board so it is possible he was pronounced dead in flight.
