The FO may not have seen it happen. I'm not sure how CO staffs Brussels-EWR, but couldn't he have been on rest and taken a nap and not woken up?

The ironic thing is, its a 777. Had both pilots passed away, the FA could have pushed a button or two and it would have landed itself.

Age 65 Rule?
In the interest of public safety... Congress must act now in order to repeal the FAA 'THE AGE 65 RULE'!!!
Based on the prior 'AGE 60 Rule', this Pilot would have been retired and may have enjoyed his remaining days with friends and family.

I am sorry for his loss and for the families loss.
I am not sorry for the pilot group's loss.
I do hope this brings the age 65 debate back to life, and perhaps some legislation will come about that would increase staffing requirements.

I know 2 retired DAL CA, one 66, one 72, who are both in better shape than some guys I know in their 40's and 50's. There's nothing wrong with the age 65 rule, you guys just want a better job just like I do, and changing the rule might make that happen for some of us. How will you feel at 65, though? I hope it goes up, because I want to keep flying as long as I am physically capable and safe, and as of right now, I only have 23 years left.

Or the staffing number and employee number I saw was wrong - but I doubt it. Either way, it's sad when anyone dies while doing their job, and I hope his family didn't find out through our horrible media.
I only made the comment I did to point out to some of my peers that decisions you make in life may haunt you forever. Choose carefully as to how you want to be remembered.
I've never kept it to myself how I've felt about the scabs and age 60+ pilots at CAL that have created the working conditions that exist. However the attrition occurs, I look at it as one step closer to working under a respectable contract instead of surrounded by people who would stab me in the back if given the opportunity.
