Default BAW birdstrike at KPHL on approach

Was just chatting with a friend who arrived in Philadelphia today. He was on a B777 that was holding for an hour due to storms and had an interesting approach. While they were on final and 1-2nm from the field they had a birdstrike in the left engine.

From his account (pax, who is a private pilot in the UK), the crew was able to continue the approach and land without issue (just a hard landing).

Kudos to the crew.

A hard landing?! Still should have been able to grease 'er in after a strike at 1-2 mile final LoL
