Default United's LOA 03-22 and GoJet

LOA 03-22 "Job Opportunities for Furloughed United Pilots"

Through this LOA there are some positions available in the next GoJet class and I was considering putting my name on the list to get one. However, I've heard a few things like people saying they'd refuse the jumpseat to a GoJet pilot. I would like to stay flying, but don't want to subject myself to ridicule from other pilot groups for taking the job. Any opinions?

I'm furloughed UA and I've been there since DEC. Typical regional bull$hit with regards to sched/mgmt. I have not had ANY jumpseat problems and don't know of anyone else who has. Lots of x ATA, Midex and ABX guys there too. It sucks but it's a job and health insurance. They just raised the hiring mins to 1000TT and 200 multi and upgrade needs 4500TT min 1000 multi. This month, a guy a few #'s senior to me went to upgrade class. As far as ridicule, no one has said anything to my face. During the last hiring boom (if you can call it that) guys went to Fedex, Delta and United. There are also a bunch of furloughed Trans States people here.
Reserve is awful but when you get a line, it's not bad. Hotels are OK. A/C are new. Most of the people are OK except for the 200 hr FO's crying 'cause they can't upgrade now. Nothing more to say on that....

American Eagle ALPA put out a letter discouraging furloughed AE guys from flying for GoJets. They are just trying to provide support to their TSA brethren who have been fighting with GoJets and managment for 7+ years now.

How in the world can the UAL MEC tell there pilots to go to a alter ego when they themselves are facing a similar situation with a alter ego?

Furthermore, isn't there something kinda wrong with supporting the reason why you were furloughed in the first place? You are your own replacement. Doing the same job, under the same colors, for a third of the price.

From a regional perspective, I would not fault a mainline guy for taking a job there...after all, it should ALL be their flying anyway.

But I would probably wear my alpa pin on my tie...

Actually, for UA guys,(ones on first year pay) it's the same $$ since we get second year pay. I agree with us "outsourcing ourselves" however, it's going to happen until the block hour provision of the CBA kicks in so we might as well be flying the airplanes. After all, they do say United on the side. On the plus side, like I have said before, if TSA walks, we will honor your line. Do you think that would happen if they hired a bunch of 200 hr guys?

Also, there needs to be a way to track your flights and city pairs so ALL UAX carriers can know what is struck work. Is ALPA doing anything about that? With express jet and the other 8 (I think) carriers flying for UAL, it's not going to be easy but it can be done. However, you guys need to get over what happened 4 years ago. The arbitration was lost and it is what it is. Stop throwing stones at us and look around the industry. How about Midex and Republic?

its a shame that you have to work for them as a Mainline guy. I understand the reasoning on your side just seems awkward ya know?

Glenn Tilton and crappy scope language put me out of a job. Not any one airline, any express carrier or the economy. And it is...it sucks....bigtime.
