After all, they do say United on the side. On the plus side, like I have said before, if TSA walks, we will honor your line. Do you think that would happen if they hired a bunch of 200 hr guys?

Also, there needs to be a way to track your flights and city pairs so ALL UAX carriers can know what is struck work. Is ALPA doing anything about that? With express jet and the other 8 (I think) carriers flying for UAL, it's not going to be easy but it can be done. However, you guys need to get over what happened 4 years ago. The arbitration was lost and it is what it is. Stop throwing stones at us and look around the industry. How about Midex and Republic?

Do those of you that are negative about Gojets and anyone working for them, take issue with ALPA being the ones that are providing the furloughees with the opportunity to work there? Do you think ALPA is trying to union bust? Is ALPA promoting people to become "scabs" as you say?

I know the same email was sent to you, Shrek. Have you expressed your displeasure about it with them? I think you should if you feel that strongly about it. We were in the same newhire class so even if I did put my name in the hat, I doubt it would ever get to our seniority.

My experience was that being an airline pilot worked both for you and against you. It looks impressive on a resume. I could tell that at least some of the people that I interviewed with were impressed. Here is where the problem comes in. The interviewer is going to eventually work around to a seemingly simple question that will most likely sink your job prospects. The question is "What are you going to do if/when your airline calls you back"? You answer "Yes" and the job interview is most likely over. Why would anyone take the time and effort to hire and train you for that good management job when they know that one call from the airline will cause you to walk?
Good point - and yes it has sunk two interviews so far.

Maybe I am truthful to a fault.
In my opinion, there is NO good reason to EVER wear a GoJet ID......none.

Not much anger here at all - just opinion or a line in the sand if you will.

My family supports my decision and always will.........truly a good woman that understands all the reasons why GoJet is NOT the place to work.

But thanks for trying to get a reaction out of me by throwing my family into the mix. When my children grow up they will understand that I live by principles - parents have lost that along the way.

If you can't argue your point like an adult then maybe you should just go and enjoy your new "job".

First of all, the folks working at Gojet are not Scabs. I agree with the other poster who said people need to educate themselves before throwing out that term. If someone crosses a picket line they are a scab.

That being said, I do take issue with ALPA working out a LOA so furloughed UAL folks can get a job at Gojet, which is represented by Teamsters. Here is why: TSA is ALPA and has pilots furloughed due to the expansion at Gojet. That ALPA actually encourages people to take a job at alter-egojet while TSA, an ALPA carrier, has pilots on the street is wrong. I admire the fact that UAL's MEC is trying to find work for their furloughed brethren but it shouldn't be done at the expense of our ALPA brothers at TSA. Just my 2 cents.

I went back to Africa in Sept to work for the humanitarian group, but they lost funding and I came home in April. Went up to Alaska and knocked on a few doors, nothing. Sent resumes out all over the world, nothing. Interviewed with a place, but won't hear until late July. Working for my dad and bro on the farm back home for now. Also, just put an app in for the Texas state troopers. We shall see.

Glad you did express your views to the MEC. I wish everyone good luck.

I sent a text message to UAL's furlough coordinator about the GoJet email just to see if he had any additional info. He said there were about 70 pilots that had preferenced GoJet on the LOA form and about 30 more responded after the email went out to be added to the list.

The July class was going to have 18 people in it and there was a class of 10 planned for early August. I don't know if that is the total class size or the number of United furloughees.

I really just wanted to know where I stood as of today. Personally, I pulled my kids out of daycare this week and put my job hunt on hold till the fall. I'd rather chase my kids around all summer and hope the job market improves in the fall. The prospects of finding a job then are probably not going to be any better considering I will not have touched an airplane since December.

I hope everyone has a great summer! At the risk of getting sued by Glenn...don't fly this summer if you are sick!

One thing you all need to understand is that UAL ALPA didn't work out a deal with GoJet per se, the deal is to place UAL furloughees at any UAX airline that is hiring. If SkyWest were hiring, we'd be going there. If Republic was hiring, we'd be going there. GoJet just happens to be the UAX carrier that is hiring now so they now fall under the LOA. This LOA is from 2003.
