Will you be on the Acela? How much time off?

I will be on whatever they need me on, doing the Northeast corridor you can be on different engine types.Time off? What is this you speak of? Not much. On call 24/7 except one day off a week. That won't kick in until I am done with training on the track, which they say will be about 2 years. You are assigned ONE route, and must know EVERY inch of that track before they cut you loose. So I will be on a senior engineer's schedule (read weekends/holidays off) for awhile.

Good luck! Do you see this as something to do until UAL recalls, or more of a permanent thing?

During the tough times, that's great you found something that worked out for you while away from flying!! Sounds like you get to be home a fair amount while staying employed....best of luck.

Now where... look up insult, and see if it applies. And talk about "anger" issues?

"Hey short bus, I will GLADLY see you around campus....any time. If and when we are recalled, I'm sure we can figure out who each other is and I look forward to hearing you mouth off to my face.

Not joining your buddy Schrek in 'nam?"
Cool...but it is more of a promise than threat!

Thanks for the clarification, I didn't realize that. Here's hoping someone else starts hiring.

If UAL is still around, and ever recalls me, don't know. Have to look at the situation. If I like it at Amtrak, probably stay. Who knows...
