Well...I'd think the greater "issue" here is the company you work for. Ie..the coat tails.
Perhaps if you would use some of your energy on changing things and a little less energy on being so defensive, things might possibly change over there.

Until 2 years ago growth rates at JB allowed FOs to upgrade rather quickly.
I am sure you did accept employment at JB with the hope of a quick upgrade too.
When considering upgrades and career advancements in the past, JBs payrates have been above average. Unless, of course, you know about any major airline that has A320 CA with 4 year seniority.
Matter of fact, in our peer group do you know of anyone that has A320 CA with only 10 years seniority? When talking about averages and qualficiations look at the demographics of our peer group and find out where you would be with 10 or less years of seniority.
However, we have entered a new era in US aviation with no or very little growth and while other downsize and cut pay, JB increases pay. That does not look like someone is undercutting us, it actually is fair and reasonable.
In regard to pay for performance and qualification, I would like to see a merit based system for the individual pilot rather than the old and outdated Union seniority list.

So how would your merit based system determine seniority?

Sorry, I must have missed the memo where its worked out so nice for us.
Delta flight attendants are some of the most senior in the industry, yet the average Delta f/a made only $37,000 in 2008 compared to $40,000 at UA, $50,000 at CAL and AA and $53,000 at WN. On top of this the workrules for DL f/a's are all F.A.R minumims...again, the worst in the industry.
I worked 1,400 hours in 2008 and my W-2 said I made $37,000...again explain to me how well the threat of a union has workers for me.
