Well...I'd think the greater "issue" here is the company you work for. Ie..the coat tails.

Perhaps if you would use some of your energy on changing things and a little less energy on being so defensive, things might possibly change over there.

Agreed. The E190 is anything but a regional jet.

Hmmm, It seems this thread is about some sort of change? I want to work where you work, though. I know that place--its the big money! Lehman Brothers! Bear Stearns! Wall Street!...No, no, no...I know you work for Bernie Madoff!...No,no,no...He went out of business...You're with GM or was it Chrysler?...No,no,no...The government of Iceland!...No,no,no...they are laying off. Gloat now, tomorrow you may have to catch those coat-tails (especially in this industry).

Just some friendly banter.

I am sure you did accept employment at JB with the hope of a quick upgrade too.
When considering upgrades and career advancements in the past, JBs payrates have been above average. Unless, of course, you know about any major airline that has A320 CA with 4 year seniority.
Matter of fact, in our peer group do you know of anyone that has A320 CA with only 10 years seniority? When talking about averages and qualficiations look at the demographics of our peer group and find out where you would be with 10 or less years of seniority.

However, we have entered a new era in US aviation with no or very little growth and while other downsize and cut pay, JB increases pay. That does not look like someone is undercutting us, it actually is fair and reasonable.

In regard to pay for performance and qualification, I would like to see a merit based system for the individual pilot rather than the old and outdated Union seniority list.
This is only kind of true. It's not hard to move up quickly at a small airline. 10 new airplanes at jetblue creates alot more movement than 10 new ones at say delta. However in regards to pay you are flat out wrong when you compared them to United or NWA (320). A third year FO at nwa or united (can't remember which) made $1 less than a third year CA at jetblue. It may have taken longer to become a captain but the pay was about the same when you looked only at longevity. The only pay that may have been above average was 1st year and then that was lowered.

So how would your merit based system determine seniority?

I worked 1,400 hours in 2008 and my W-2 said I made $37,000...again explain to me how well the threat of a union has workers for me.
You don't count since you obviously get it.
