Well, apparently we've never been worth industry average pay until now. Ever JB hour you've logged until June 1 was as a below average airline pilot flying for a major carrier.
So it's either the company was undercutting us or that we were not worth it... which one was it?

I am sure you did accept employment at JB with the hope of a quick upgrade too.
When considering upgrades and career advancements in the past, JBs payrates have been above average. Unless, of course, you know about any major airline that has A320 CA with 4 year seniority.
Matter of fact, in our peer group do you know of anyone that has A320 CA with only 10 years seniority? When talking about averages and qualficiations look at the demographics of our peer group and find out where you would be with 10 or less years of seniority.
However, we have entered a new era in US aviation with no or very little growth and while other downsize and cut pay, JB increases pay. That does not look like someone is undercutting us, it actually is fair and reasonable.
In regard to pay for performance and qualification, I would like to see a merit based system for the individual pilot rather than the old and outdated Union seniority list.

Not to throw any flame on the fire (REALLY!), but isn't the only reason JetBlue isn't hemorrhaging money because Luftansa poured $300 million into JB's coffers? Kudos for channeling some of that money towards the pilots, I guess, but foreign benefactors aren't interested in pleasing pilots with their donated Euros.
Probably wrong on this. Anyone?

The future of US domestic capacity is probably a shrinking pie overall. This probably lends itself to a well-funded, non-union start-up with cheap costs and cheap(er) pilots starting itself up every 10 years or so. Personally, I like working for a carrier that can hedge it's bets with international traffic . . .

Don't forget that JetBlue doesn't pay for their airplanes or gas. Infact whilst I personally think our blue uniform shirts are gay they hide stains better than white shirts so we also save a ton of money on laundry. Additionally after JetBlue installs live TV on 300 continental airlines jets, it will be the latter who will be paying a huge portion of our pilot payroll. Every time a Continental passenger swipes a credit card B6 will be get a sizable %. But ofcoarse Deltabound you already know all this!!!!

Just curious. Who is downsizing?
Who has been cutting pay below B6 rates?
I have friends at SWA and AT who upgraded in the 737 with way less than 10 years!
