Default Hirring Numbers For CAL

Could someone please shed some light on the exact hirring numbers for Continental for the summer and fall.

I know they are slowing down for the summer, but how many?

When will the slow down end?

I went through transition training a couple months ago and they were training 12 new hires per week. I'm not sure how slow they cut it back to? Maybe half of that? Hiring should pick up in the fall. They are short staffed on the 737 and 757. Out of the 12, 3-4 got the 757 and the rest got the 737. Most went to Newark and about 2 from every class get Guam.

They still have a few 737-800's coming, three 757-300's, two 777's, and 10 787's. Lots of retirements too!

I am in training at CAL now... the word is that there will be a June class, and July Class and then it will ramp up to Weekly in August. My class had 12 and was all EWR 737, the class after us was the same, there was a class of 8 that showed up about 2 weeks ago that was 4 737 and 4 757 all EWR.

When we started Gary the staffing guru told us that it actually is diffiucult to get Guam... They havent sent anyone there for the past few month or so.

They are interviewing by drips and drabs expect it to pick up in mid- july for August classes.

Here's an indiation: They are hiring dispatchers too at a good rate. As you may recall, an airline is required to have a certain number of dispatchers per aircraft/routing. More dispatch hiring means more pilot hiring and vice versa usually. CAL seems to be in better shape financially and may emerge as the survivor in these turbulent times...
