At DTW, when you buy duty free, they deliver it to the aircraft before departure.

Ha ha...I paid $49, after the discount, for some premium tequila in MTY, the next time I was in DTW I checked the price for the same tequila and was surprised to find out it was only $45 before the 10% discount. D'oh!

Funny... I found Spanish redwine to be chaper at the local walmart than at the duty free in Madrid... Yes, exactly same wine and year...

Cool

Some airports allow international crews to buy duty free, some don't. In general there is very little savings, if any, over big box stores in the US. One time that it is worthwhile is if you can't get it here.

I dunno, I got 2 Litres of 100 proof Kahlua in DTW for $30 courtesy of a YUL turn. Not going to get it that cheap in Michigan....

That's illegal. You have to declare and pay duty on it when you return. Duty free is export only.

Not; as long when you bring it back to the states is not more than two litters total and not more that two bottles you dont have to declare it.

I have bought from Duty Free while on domestic trips. I just had to pay the tax. Still got the crew discount. I guess it depends on the individual Duty Free store.

Not illegal - he just exported the liquor, then re-imported it. If he didn't declare it on his customs form, well, then he should of. But there probably wouldn't of been any duty when he imported it.

I did that exact thing walking across the border in Mexico several times.

That's not correct. Check with customs. Duty free is for export only.
