Another thing could have an automatic lock attached to the seat belt sign. Anytime the sign is on, the lav doors are locked.
Like that one passenger should have done and then sued!

Second idea - maybe they should install those locking mechanisms like they have on the roller coasters. They just come down right over the shoulders and lap and lock you in

...or maybe FAs should get tasers and blowguns!

I have flown with Captains that will leave the seat belt sign illuminated the entire flight, even when all reports are of smooth air.

When queried, they respond if they leave it on at all times then they would not be liable.

I absolutely can't stand this. It drives me nuts. There is no reason for this.

When I upgrade to captain, at 10,000 feet, if it's smooth I will turn the seatbelt sign off, and then turn it on/off as conditions warrant.

Air Canada Jazz does it right. They get that sucker off at like 5,000 feet. haha!

One way to eliminate all of this is just to take the lav's out of the planes.

I'm sure that all this media attention wil bring the focus back to the concept of buckle-up when seated for the average passenger.
