I think they should be UPS.

I stand corrected. After rereading Alleghany Mohawk, I found it in section 13 about applying to non collectively represented groups.

My guess on the rumored merger: Some in the financial markets will signal the takeover target before it's announced. Just check stock prices to see which potential cantidates are near a 52 week high. Or check recent stock purchases by corporate officers in the last 6 months.

NWA pulled their offer to purchase Midway (1991) after the state of MN questioned Al Checci (NWA CEO and his cronies) about a maintenance facility the the citizens of MN were about to pay for. So much money to buy Midway but none for the maintenance facility. Midway went down immediately and SWA sent employees the next day to Bogart the gates a MDW. BTW, NWA Alpa and MDW alpa had an agreement to merge the seniority lists and then the rug was pulled out from under Midway Airlines.

Well Oscar, one of us is wrong and as I tell my wife it can't be me We did get DC-9-50s from SWA their tail numbers were NXXXMC. The MC was Muse. Chicago's Mayor twisted NWAs arm to sell the Midways gates that they had just bought from Midway because of the failed deal. That sir is how SWA came to MDW. And isn't it strange that the great deal that SWA got from NWA seemed to include staying away from MSP. Entry into MSP announced after DAL merger.........coincidence?

Didn't I hear that SWA wanted to start codesharing with AirTran? Maybe it's AirTran they want to buy?

That would put WN in ATL

Yesterday I heard an executive for SWA on the radio firmly claim that they "are suspending any plans for fleet expansion indefinitely". I think the speaker was the CEO.

That would be my guess. Assuming they want as much fleet commonality as possible for the merger, that would make sense.

Buying an ATL hublet with a route structure would be a different approach than jusy buying 737's and hoping to find routes for them.

Obviously a Union busting tactic.
