I have heard a rumor about MD90s for Midwest......anyone else here that Midwest might not die off after all? Also, isn't 25 years of service at YX coming up, I haven't heard anything or any festivities that might happen.

ALPA to Midwest: Continued Outsourcing Flagrant Example of Trading Experience for Lower Costs
With support from across ALPA, your MEC has been working to develop a plan to address our management’s continued outsourcing of our jobs. ALPA has even taking our story to members of Congress. In the written statement that ALPA submitted to the Aviation Subcommittee of the U.S. House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure as part of the union’s participation in yesterday’s hearing on “Regional Air Carriers and Pilot Workforce Issues,” ALPA cited Midwest’s continued outsourcing as a flagrant example of trading “experience in the cockpit” for “cheaper contractors.”
ALPA didn’t mince words in describing the huge impact that this outsourcing has had on our pilot group. “They have laid off nearly 75% of their experienced pilots and replaced them by contracting with Republic and SkyWest Airlines. This has the effect of the Midwest pilots with over 15 years of airline experience being replaced by pilots with less than three years’ experience in a blatant disregard for the value of its own employees.”

ALPA needs to take this issue public. I understand that ALPA has dues paying members at the regionals, but for our profession ALPA needs to highlight the value of experience.
The airlines trying to make money by using less experienced pilots has to be condemned. It will benefit all pilots in the long run.
