Understand that he and I both saw what the chances were of ASA coming over to the mainline list. We both realized that there were too many hens in the coop and there would be no way of it happening soon enough to make it worthwhile for our careers. We came to mainline, and made the decision. I think that many people over at the regional level forget that these mainline lists are littered with guys that realized that DOH was dead and a staple would be the only way. Problem is that many of the people in the regional union leadership wanted nothing to do with a staple.
They wanted their seats fenced off from mainline guys but wanted to bid whatever they could hold. It is one example of too many one way streets.

Do you really think that national would alienate a legacy carrier over a regional?
I think the point that he's trying to make is that the conflict of interest on ALPA's part between many of their mainline and connection/express counterparts is an injustice and not ok. I don't think any of us expected the decision to go with anyone but DALPA for obvious reasons. However, is that fair to the Comair guys represented by the same union that claims to be the "the ultimate guardian and defender of the rights" of ALL of its members?

Not trying to put you in your place dude, but reading a lot of posts on this and other forums, it seems the younger generation of pilots are waiting for "ALPA" to get things for them. What they fail to understand is that they ARE ALPA, and until they make the effort, no one, especially management, is going to play mama for them.

(Again, not singling you out personally.)

Fact is that the father of RJDC is just waiting to open this case back up. He sees the language in the JPWA as it pertains to hiring DAL furloughed pilots as against the agreement. If you expect our MEC to work with the regional ALPA unions, then you need to stop having your pilots sue us.

ACL65...Im all about unity. Half of these issues and ****ing contests probably wouldn't even come up if everyone was on the same list.

There is no way that mainline guys will fly the 175. They think it is beneath them.

Not at all. I would gladly fly it. It is a great airplane. It also is more comfortable than most of our narrow body lift.

I think its a different day now, my friend. EVERY single mainline guy I've spoken to wants "that thing" at mainline. Curiously, to many of them the CRJ-900 is "just an RJ" but the E175 with its tall stance, wing-mounted engines and ability to take carry-on bags in the cabin is a real hot-button for them.

Not at all. I would fly the 900 too. Problem with it is that it is an RJ design. the E-series is a cross over jet.
I foresee the E-series here long after those 900's hit the bone yard.

G-Dog, your flat wrong!

Just as a bit of history from the fNWA side, we offerd in bankruptcy court to fly these airplanes for what ever the current wage scale was. The battle cry going into all of the NewCo (which became Compass) was no, and oh by the way did we say no. The Bankruptcy Judge was told, by the company, that they were concerned with "mainline creep" and convinced the judge that Compass was the only way to go.

For the mid to junior fNWA guys getting the Compass flying and pilots on our list is a big deal. Stopping Compass' birth was a line in the sand for us and one of the two reasons I voted NO on the bankruptcy contract.

While I would love to help out Mesaba, and even Comair and Skypest (thanks Wasach, love that one) there are only so many kitties/puppies in the pound you can rescue. Compass is the son of my old pet and it's got to come home.
