Based on the numbers, it seems that the fleet will remain stagnant. Doesn’t that mean the staffing requirements fly the jets will also remain the same? Doesn’t that mean that no one will be pink slipped? But wait… in light of the current economy who has the disposable income to take vacations? I bet the situation at SWA is a lot better than your counter parts.

Age 65 isn’t the immediate problem… but ways to fill current seats rather than buying new toys.

Not to start a fight, as far as I know, the NWA MEC and the APA were the only two pilot unons who were against AGE 65. (I'm not sure where IPA stood on the issue). So, Southwest guys get to finally criticize your union about something. Welcome to the club. Age 65 hurts.

What do you mean FINALLY criticize our union? I've always had doubts about SWAPA.

...If you have read the Company's earnings release today you clearly saw where our CEO announced zero planned growth for 2009 and 2010. That news is a significant setback for our pilot group...
Your title is a clear case of false advertisement...

Hopefully everyone can find something to keep them employed until things turn around. Does anyone know about how many are in the pool now? All the best to everyone, we might be treading for awhile.

200 in the pool per LL (as of this week). I think more answers will come after there's a contract. Codeshare vs. required grow.....

200-ish is the word I hear too. Looks like I'll be changing my separation date from this April to uhhh...hmmm....any ideas? Judging from reading the quarterly report, Gary's letter to employees, and various economic guru friends, I think the email from the PD earlier this month might be spot on, unfortunately.

That's where my timing absolutely sucked! An AGR that reached 25 years flying 19 Jan. Currently in my state, no extensions to AGR pilots. Oh well, I'll do what I can, hope for the best, and see what happens.

I have a prt time consultant job and a very small biz of my own, so I'll be OK $ wise, I just hope the wait isn't too long.
