A A330 base in JFK/ATL or both is very possible as is a 767ER base in SEA and DTW. The 747-400 even if moved to Atlanta would be fenced to NWA only. The company likes this because they feel it will minimize any training involved. They believe the NWA pilots will follow the airframe which is probably true. There are going to be hundreds of basing combinations the company can explore between now and SOC when they start moving equipment. If the past history of Delta management and crew planning holds true the only thing you can count on is that until the bid is actually posted no decision has been made.
I personally know 6 -400 CA and at least 2 FO that currently line in ATL, so that would be a dream come true for them.

In addition, a practice bid might be very misleading as to how a "real" bid would come out. Like playing poker for matchsticks, people would tend to bid more "adventureously" when there are no consequences for a bad guess.
