Vision Air?

Vision Air?
Living in the great southwest just a 2 hour drive south from the Phoenix area in Tucson, I was surprised to hear that a former part 135 air tour company called Vision Air based out of Vegas that does air tours to the Grand Canyon announced nonstop service between Williams Gateway(IWA) in Mesa to the North Las Vegas airport(VGT) using Dornier 328's, certainly planes you don't see flying the skies very often. According to the press release, will be operating 4 days a week one roundtrip each day in the dinner time hours. Should be interesting to see how this takes a cut into business at US Airways and Southwest. Much shorter check in times, supposively good service, get there about the same time you do flying a jet, and both airports offer free parking. Sounds like a great deal, guess we'll see how the public will react. I'm curious if anyone knows anything more about them on this forum and would like to give there 2 cents as to where they think these guys are headed. Looks like they will also be starting service from Scottsdale shortly and are looking at California and other parts of Nevada for expansion. Interesting company, would love to hear some responses, heres the url where I got all this info if the link doesnt work just google "vision air las vegas" and there should be a headline that says, " Vision Airlines to fly between Phoenix and Vegas starting April 6." .http://www.google.com/search?q=cache...s&ct=clnk&cd=6

Chris,
I only have the 'next door neighbor' view of Vision. I have been a long time Vegas resident and prior 'ditch driver', sharing ramp space with Vision at the canyon. They are PFT, and that goes to the highest bidder. Intel recently has that bidder from overseas, an airline looking to fatten up the times of their newhires, probably to meet some kind of minimum time requirement for their ops or locale. Anyway, they've always been on the shady side of the tracks. Local gossip has the owners/officers involved in all kinds of dark and scary things in countries south of the border, and those finances are what paid for the fancy shiny doorknobs, er, em Dornier's.
Doubt that they grow much past the limits of thier management. That puts 'em pretty close to max right now, but who knows. I wouldn't look to see them tackling anything major, but you probably will see additional services added little by little.
Hope this helps, and understand it's all a view from a distance.

About a year and a half ago I had an interview with them. At the time I had under 800TT and they wanted me to PFT in a plane I already had about 600hrs in. Also they told me as an FO the most I could make was only 14K a year, to fly a JS-32 or a 228! If I could come up with over 800TT they would not make me PFT. PFT or not I will NOT fly for that chump change.
