Airlines eye more onboard advertising
I particularly like the idea of pilots having ads on the back of their shirts. How about forcing the first officers to walk around terminals with a sandwich board? Or the PA announcement ends with something like "this important message was brought to you by Tinactin, the best cure for fungal toenails."
From Associated Press:
NEW YORK - As airline passengers grow wary, and perhaps weary, of more fees and higher ticket prices, some U.S. carriers may look to onboard advertisements as a way to raise revenue without further tapping customers' wallets and patience.
Advertisements already adorn the bottoms of security bins, in-flight television screens and boarding passes — not to mention ads that have been appearing in-flight for years, such as those on napkins, beverages and magazines.

Some mid-level nimrod in marketing at Delta sold some ad space to Go-To Meeting. com. It's a company that bills itself as an alternative to business trips. Nothing like letting your competition advertise on your airplane. Didn't last too long though. The pilots complained and the higher ups pulled the ads.
