It appears that despite the continued degradation of this profession, and despite less and less respect being afforded to those behind the cockpit door, the public STILL expects more from an airline pilot than they do from "a poor bastard from McDonalds." Is that wrong?

Oh, and it also makes for a sensational news story . . . fall from grace and all that.
