I flew with a Capt. who voted no for insurance after 9-11. His reason "Why should I subsidize someone else's career choice. I knew what I was doing when I chose this career." He had crossed the picket line in 83.

Is it possible for the MEC to publish the names of the ones who voted "No" on this?

I wonder how closely it would align with the number of SCABS remaining at CAL?

Bravo to 2/3 rds of the CAL pilots! Good luck to the guys on furlough. Been there... done that. It ain't fun. At least you won't have to worry about getting raped by COBRA now.

I agree. It's only right to watch out for our brothers and sisters while they are on furlough.

On a side note, COBRA doesn't have to be the only option. Granted it will all depend on family situations, illnesses, pre-exisiting conditions, kids, etc.

I am a single guy and when I was hired at CO I found an individual BC/BS (Blue Access Value 3000) policy online for $75 per month. A lot better than paying the $300/mo COBRA from my previous employer. Guys I talk to are surprised I found something so inexpensive. Some I have talked to said they just did without for 6 months because they couldn't afford COBRA from their previous jobs.

Again, you don't have to suffer with no health insurance or COBRA payments if you do a little research.

Insurance Quotes from Individual Health Quotes

Health Insurance, Medical Insurance, Individual Health Insurance Quotes

That's how I found mine for my zip, sex, age, etc. I did an individual policy not short-term. The short-term 6 mo policy was a few more bucks a month, but the continuing policy allowed me to cancel at any time anyway. And, to be safe, I wanted something that would continue on until I knew I had my CO health insurance activated. So I had one month of overlap in coverage (7 months total with my own policy).

Just got a letter in the mail from Al Brandano (CALALPA 170 chairman).

I will quote it so nobody can say I made it up, "We are a weathered elder pilot group with a history of strength, reliability, and survivability, along with a younger component that is yet untested, somewhat selfish..."
I'll stop there. CAL pilots have a history of strength? The younger CAL pilots are selfish? What the..! Am I reading this wrong? What a moron! Vote him out! The scabs are strong and the furloughed guys are selfish. That's just great.

Christ, that right there is enough to get you to vote for Jayson Baron, (though I was doing so anyway). What an out of touch dufus Al is.

MUST be a typo. . . or a bad cut and paste. . . how about this "We are a weathered elderplot group, with a history of being somewhat selfish, along with a younger component that is strong, reliable . . .

On a side note lets not forget those affected by 9-11 and all those of you who did their duty on that day!
