I guess they knew how many were needed in advance, I think this next call is not going to be anounced untill the vacancy comes out. 15th-20th of the month prior?, of course I could just be starting another rumor like so many out there.
In simple words, I would not expect anything until FEB09. I am on furlough, trust me I want them to start calling...
imho.

Those who get called back effective March 1st will need to bid for March 1st. So they need to know who is coming back by February 11th or whenever March bidding opens. Add to that the pilots have at least 14 days to answer or reject a recall. Finally on top of all that those guys need to be trained as well. Now you are talking about middle to end of January. This base bid will close today I believe. If we will not hear anything in the next two weeks I doubt there will be a March call. On the other hand it seems the info on the line is that they are short. I have my hopes up.

Staffing an additional 10 planes could possibly result in a hiring situation.. depending on how many jilted new hires decide to risk round two.
They hired local guys specifically for SJU so it would not become a revolving door base for new hires, but now that's closed and many of those guys gave up seniority at other places.. and probably aren't looking to relocate to southern Jersey, which seems the safest bet outside of FLL
Even if SAT suddenly became a reality... would you feel comfortable unpacking your bags?

Thx for the correction, I think I am wrong. But I still think we wont hear anything until FEB09.
The 5 % may be a correct rumor, but the rest, just like the NKS pilot board, I think it just got out of hand, every other post running in a different direction.
Co. has to love this since it keep us of their backs..Feeding on stories like they are made out of raw meat...Kind of hungry now.

Hi Guys:
I was recalled from furlough in Oct. To be able to have u flying in March, they have to send the letters by the middle of this month. U have to go thru requal training and sim (that takes a couple of weeks). I'm going to give a timeline from my recall. Letters by Fedex Oct.15. I called and e-mailed Lisa Perez immediately accepting the recall(u have 10 days to accept or defer). I suggest that u run to do your background check and urine test. I did it next day because this can take up to two weeks. Ground school Nov.18,19,20 and Sim 21,22. The 24th they call me for a trip. So technically we started flying before Dec.1st. I hope they call u fast. We need everybody back.

If there is a recall effective March 1st they will have to put out the vacancy bid within the next 10 days. The training dept is not capable of getting 20-25 pilots back on line in just a few weeks. If you dont see anything by next Friday the 16th there will be no recalls for March 1st, IMO.
