If any of you don't have access to Spiritboard...

A little bit of juice flowing over there recently. A poster is familiar with "new" A320s that are coming. Apparantly they are older and may have various configurations...different FMGC...and possibly with CFM-56 engines. He said SM replaced AP because of his great A320 experience...especially in Latin America...and that SM convinced upper management he could set up the differences training by a certain deadline to get these A320s on the line.

My optimistic side thinks all this is way too detailed and specific just to be a rumor. Has anyone else heard any rumors like this?

There's also some rumors floating around that some aircraft are already in the hangers in DTW...anyone heard that either?

Hang in there fellas. Recent furlough guy here. Pax loads have been strong (flow sheets rarely fall below 100's - lots of 120+/130+). Positive vibes, so keep your heads up.

Lost arbitration on the 'door closed' vs 'wheels roll'. Wha...? Being responsible for people's lives and only getting paid per-diem. Doesn't make sense.

Jet A fuel prices are in the $1.70'ish/gal.

More and more MEL items on the releases lately. Received a bird with a DMI that was not on flow sheet so watch your **s.

SM is absolutely the right man for the job, but your info regarding the reason he replaced AP is uninformed wild speculation. Trust me on that. He did NOT lobby for the job and was only picked after AP quit. Yes, he has a great deal of Latin America and A320 experience and that greatly influenced his selection, but SM will do the job without being influenced by business deadlines that conflict with safe operations, or he won't do it at all.

SM's greatest task will be in avoiding all of his new "friends".

I agree....too much detail for this to be just a rumor. I was told by a senior check airmen that we were getting 20 A320's, older than most, that will have significant differences but nothing that cant be trained for. He told me the plan was ten aircraft this winter and ten towards the end of the year. Its kinda frustrating but the only thing we can do now is sit back and wait......if its indeed true then we will know sooner rather than later.

Remember, management has always been interested in growing this place, just at the right cost. Fuel is now $40/bbl and airplanes are a dime a dozen.....sounds like a good time to me!!

I doubt that there will be more than 10 planes. The leasing company doesnt have 20.

Unbeknown to me, I had two friends purchase tickets on Spirit Airlines for a flight from Orlando to Costa Rica and you guys will never guess what happened to their connector in FLL. They cancelled the flight...no FLT CREW available. Good old NKS just keepin' it real. Sorry no REAL updates, just passing along what happened today.

No A/C in hangar on 12/29. MTC guy heard similar word on 320s though.
