Default Question for Captians

*Edit Sorry for the misspelling of Captain. in the title*

Hey there, my name is Joey, I am currently a student at University of Alaska Anchorage, I ‘m studying Professional Piloting here. For my Aviation Safety class we were instructed to interview someone in the aviation industry. I thought the easiest way would be to touch base on a web forum and see if I could get a answer from you guys.

1. What do you think would be some of the best ways to improve
aviation safety?
2. If these new safety measures were implemented, would it
significantly impact aviation safety?
3. What is the main cause of accidents in your field?
4. Would aviation safety be improved more by adding new safety
measures or by more stringently enforcing the existing ones?
5. As a whole, is the FAA doing a good job as far as promoting
aviation safety goes?
6. What could the FAA do to improve aviation safety?
7. Do you see a serious emphasis placed on safety in day-to-day
operations where you work?
8. How important is the human factor in aviation safety?
9. What makes for really good employees in your career field?
10. What makes for bad ones?
11. As a whole, would the system be better off without the “bad”
employees; would it be worthwhile to try and fix whatever is
making them bad workers?
12. What are some qualities that could help you succeed in your field?
13. Are qualities such as honesty and integrity important in your
career field?
14. Have you seen changes in the types of people entering the
workplace today compared to when you first started?
15. What advice would you give to someone trying to enter into your
career field?
16. Knowing what you know now, what, if anything, would you have done
differently at the start of you career?
17. How long have you been in the aviation? How did you start? What
type of aircraft do you fly? How many hours do you have logged?
I would greatly appreciate if you guys could answer some of those questions for me.

Thanks,
Joey

A goog place to look for casuse of accidents is the National Transportation Safety Board Website. ntsb.gov.

I think you will find that the biggest factor is Pilot Error. It is usually caused by another factor in the chain of events that could have been stopped by the pilot.

Hope this helps.

to help answer #13.

Honesty and Intergrety must be present to perform well as a pilot. We must have attention to detail and we must follow all the rules and be "By The Book".

Many interviews are based a lot on these characters. Companies can teach someone to fly their airplane but can not teach these skills.

If you want to get my specifics on my flying background PM me. I like to remain anonymous here.
