One could argue that an element of contributory negligence is exists. Poor aircraft design by the manufacturers concerning the fuel tank protection for the Concorde, unauthorized repair on an aircraft by CAL, and an inadequate runway inspection prior to the Concorde’s departure by CDG's airport employee conducting the runway inspection.

So come on France step up to the plate and admit who should bear the majority of the blame.
Weren't there a few other incidents similar to this one where the Concorde encountered FOD on TO and suffered damage, just not as severe?

Yes. The only difference was that the fuel didn't ignite.

Sounds to me like many outside forces came together and caused an accident. It's very tragic, but at the end of the day that's what it was. An ACCIDENT. I'm not surprised people came back expecting a handout.

Just remember that one of French military leaders was a sixteen year old girl that heard voices and was burned at the stake because of it.

the French, can be,are difficult, but they were our first allies at our inception, and indeed, despite our many differences, still our friends, and allies now. It is not always an easy relationship, but the civilization that produced St.Ex,will never be irredeemable.
