Folks,
This resolution will never pass. It has NOT been voted on yet..July 17th I believe. It is mainly one guy blowing off steam and does NOT have the support of the majority of Alaska pilots. None of us wants to make the jumpseat into a weapon and will continue to offer it to all airlines with a reciprocal agreement (this includes Jetblue, Allegient, and VA.) Many of us feel that it would be a better opportunity to offer a non-union pilot a ride in the cockpit and talk openly about the benefits of union representation.
I've had quite a few Jetblue pilots in the jumpseat out of Long Beach and each and every one was a great guy that would be welcome any time they need a ride.

Always a noble effort. The sad part is this, that may work if you have say a Colgan pilot, a SkyWest pilot, or EVEN a GoJet FO who simply was too ignorant and didn't know any better.
With the carriers this is meant to effect, I can guarantee you that the MAJORITY of them (the pilots) have ALREADY worked at a unionized carrier. I'm sure for some, MORE than one unionized carrier.
In other words, talking to them about the benefits of union representation isn't going to do much good.

JJ Reed has made too many enemies, which is definitely a very bad idea in this profession. And since he is so pro union, maybe he should help his first year buddies @CAL who are makin poverty level wages, even third world FOs are makin twice or thrice that amount.

I agree with your point and there are definately a lot of scabs that flock to places like those, but it becomes a little more complicated when you try to figure out where to really draw the line. For instance, what about non-union carriers that are not in direct competition with us? Or what about non-union carriers that we have entered into some sort of code share with like Era or Frontier Alaska.
Some good that will hopefully come from this is returning the jumpseat authority to the Captain where it belongs, not with the CSA. From there the Captain can ask for a union card and award the jumpseat in descending order... Union then Non-Union.

Union nonsense.
If you decide not to be Union how does make you a scab?
Unions are long overrated and unnecessary Kinda like lawyers, way to many and they all know it better, but they are the only ones getting better from it.
Pretty much the key reason I always refused any airline job. And it turned out great
