Most economists believe oil should sell for between $60-70/barrel. OPEC came to the same conclusion when they decided not to invest the billions into additional capacity since they think at some point the market will bottom back down. The fact is, a large part of the price of oil today, and why airlines are suffering is "Risk Premium" .. look it up in a basic Finance text.

War=Risk.. This war has two winners: Military Industrial Complex, and Oil Companies and Oil rich nations.

Default United Furloughs

For those at United, you may know of retired pilot Bill Powell who maintains the pilot seniotity database for the UAL MEC.

His projections, and he clearly states only his "best guess" is that United will furlough 1,641 after the "new seniority list" comes out on July 1, 2008. Not a pretty picture at all.

G'Day and Good Luck to the UAL guys & gals.

Default Not again

Best wishes to all at UAL. Those guys who left good jobs to recently hire on, and those who recently returned from furlough. Our profession just can't seem to get a break.

I interviewed with UAL in January, and was greatly disappointed to get the email instead of the call. I guess in retrospect my Higher Power was looking out for me...

Blue skies and tailwinds, my friends.

Roger that. Look at it this way... you saved yourself a "high" followed by a deeper low that would have netted you a position worse that what you currently hold.
