I would have to go back and look at previous filings, but I believe SWA's percentage of hedged fuel was with the original delivery schedule of taking almost 30 aircraft this year and around 30 next year. When they paired growth, it effectively increased the percentage of hedged fuel. If they don't retire the aircraft like they thought, it would only decrease the amount of hedged fuel across the fleet by a few percent. SWA still pays market prices for fuel; they use the hedging program as a revenue management tool.

I have all the respect for WN in the world. Top notch company. But today lets not bash the UAL drivers. WN will have its day too when it pays oil just like everyone else.
