Why did the UAL news leak thread close so quick?

My personal opinion is (now dont get mad) the moderators are closeing thread happy right now for some reason. Some I can understand, but one example I don't agree with is the thread "chinese pilots pay to quit" was closed without an explanation or being moved to another section. I don't know but my guess was that there was a "managment" meeting and the main point was "we need to eliminate some threads that "we" feel bring the site down".

No offense guys just my $.02. Still love the site.

Like I said there are threads that need to be closed. There is just an abnormally large number of them. And THE MAIN POINT is that there is a abnormally large number of them closed WITHOUT an explanation.

I agree but if they are getting rid of thread why is the UAL going out of business thread still here. Its based on my brothers sister in laws best friend heard a Southwest pilot say..... I learned long ago these boards are 80% Flamebait and about 20% truth.

Its speculative on as why they closed the thread but...

I was about to start a list of threads that are of the SAME EXACT subject that were not closed. So again until we know, we know nothing.

I asked HSLD about that Chinese pilots thread as I too was surprised to see it closed without explanation. He explained to me that the thread had been moved to the foreign section. When I asked why there had been no explanation he told me he would remind the mods. to provide an explanation in the future.

Still, I'm with you on the notion that the mods. seem a bit too eager to close threads these days. I don't have an explanation. Perhaps they just want this forum to maintain a narrow focus on airline topics only. It's their site after all. Still I miss the lively conversations.

I've noticed that moving threads to more appropriate sections has often resulted in threads being closed. Don't know if that's inadvertant or not, but I do know that I've noticed a higher level of moderation recently. It's something that I'm a bit dissapointed about personally, but since it's not my site, I'm just along for the ride...

One comment that I have for the moderators, is that if you close a thread for being a duplicate, it would be nice to reference the duplicate thread in the closed thread (via a link).

I don't think I said I was surprised that there was no explanation, My concern was that the mods should provide a redirect to moved or merged threads which was the case with the "Chinese" thread. The thread in question was posted in the Foreign section and was closed in another forum as housekeeping.

Great feedback, thank you. I've asked the mods to clarify the housekeeping duties and be clear about thread closures.
